原文标题：Why the dream of the flying car hasn’t panned out
Where men are rapists,
Where people are traveling on elephants,
Where cow and cow dungs are worshiped,
Where the poverty is higher than many African countries,
Where people smell more than a pig,
Where people will stare at the tourists,
Where youngsters will woo and “try” women tourists,
Where slums are more than anything else.
Where people are spitting on the road
Where terrorist activities and bomb blasts are usual.
I totally agree with Kaiser Kuo answer here.I have never visited china but as an Indian, I do know what is lacking here which might not be in china.
It is not that the people don’t want to visit india, It is the infrastructure in india that they afraid of. There is very little infrastructure in and around the tourist place. Suppose you want to go to Varanasi from Agra. There is no direct flight. You have to come delhi first then go to varanasi. This takes more time than Train. But in train there is a problem of reservation you can’t get the ticket easily. And you don’t expect people to travel in general coach of the train.
Other reason is as Balaji Viswanathan said there is less business tourism in india than in china.
Though tourism in india is growing at the rate of around 8%. Number of foreign tourist arrival in india in 2014 was around 75 lakh and domestic tourist count for more than 1200 million. This is good but the potential is far bigger.
Honestly speaking, most people in India think all foreign tourists are uber rich & there is nothing wrong if we loot them by charging hefty auto/taxi fare, asking the multi fold price if they want to buy something. Even Government has kept different entry fees for the monuments which are our nation’s pride.
Apart from this, unhygienic culture, lack of upkeep & maintenance of places of interest has also major role to play.
